Jacob Peterson is devoted to the small Indian orphanage that he runs, but cash flow problems force him to return to Denmark where, despite his bullish nature, he receives a very generous funding offer from a wealthy businessman. Frustratingly for Jacob the money has stipulations, one of which is to attend a wedding, an event which propels him back into a past he thought long forgotten. 'After The Wedding' is a stunning drama that builds and maintains more tension than most thrillers; characters find out more...

A stunning visual account of man's struggle for survival in the 21st Century, a time when replicant life forms are beginning to surpass humans not just in intelligence but emotions, raising questions about our concepts of self. A post-modern sci-fi classic, THE great Hollywood movie of the '80s, the last great pre-computer film done with smoke-and-mirrors SFX and the definitive cult arthouse Sci-Fi film. This is the second version re-edited by Ridley Scott; all the good bits remain, with the onl find out more...

It's sick, it's weird, it's spooky, but it's compulsive viewing. Forget Brat Packs and Rambo, this is the dark side to America. Beneath the squeaky clean surface lurk neuroses and perversions, degradation and despair. Brilliantly done, this film will haunt you. find out more...

A work of genius. A sort of 1984 gone haywire about a humble clerk and his efforts to find the girl of his dreams. The backgrounds and the details are all superb in one of the most immaginative films ever released, although the studio that put up the money wanted a happier ending. A Must see! find out more...

A family reunion is the setting for this dark and inventive film from Denmark. When the eldest son gives a speech for his father, Helge's sixtieth birthday, Helge and the guests are taken aback by what they hear. There's also a missing daughter and a party of revellers keen to pretend the speech never happened! The fantastic cinematography from Lars von Triers as well as the richly textured plot makes this a unique film. Highly recommended. find out more...

A brilliant film the by same director as 'Abigail's Party'. Keith Pratt is the last of the Boy Scouts and with his equally ridiculous wife Candice Marie, they set out on the wilds of a Dorset campsite for their hols, but their health food and knitted way of life don't quite fit in. Darkly funny and eminently quotable, it's a home grown joy of unparalleled quality. find out more...

Crusading frontier policeman Captain Stanley captures the fugitive Burns brothers, Charley and Mikey, at the scene of a bloody rape and murder. Informing Charley that he must kill his older brother, Arthur, in order to avoid the execution of Mikey, Stanley retreats to an old jailhouse and awaits the bloody outcome. Director John Hillcoat's second collaboration with Nick Cave (here contributing the film's screenplay and soundtrack), is a taut and often brutal character study of desperation ami find out more...
